Guy Fieri's Baltimore Kitchen and Bar

By now, everyone should know who Guy Fieri is. If not here is a quick lesson, Diners, Drive-Ins, & Dives. Guy Fieri's Baltimore Kitchen and Bar, will offer guest a taste of Fieri signature, featuring bold flavors and unique twist on signature dishes. Guy's unique style and flavors, makes you say WOW. The pricing was actually decent pricing for a casino.

The Food: Everything passing by our table, we said wow, that looks good. Of course I did a little research before we joined our friends for dinner. I already had in the back of my mind what I wanted. Yes, it was call the Big Dipper. It is the mack daddy of roast beef sandwiches. Shaved pit beef, pepper jack cheese, crispy onion straws, creamy horseradish sauce, on a toasted garlic torpedo roll. Served with a side of fries. I will say, this sandwich, gives Chaps Pit Beef a run for their money. I will say this sandwich will not disappoint you. It was so good, my wife liked my sandwich better. My wife got the Mac and Cheese bacon burger. I tried a bite of my wife's burger and man, it had a great taste to it. I'm not a huge fan of mac and cheese, but this was over the top. Our friend, got the B-More fries, despite the side salad on top of the fries, they were excellent. The fries came with shredded lettuce and carrots on top the fries ( the side salad ) smothered in Guy's crab dip, with chunks of crab. Crab dip from a chain restaurant could be a little skeptical, but not this one. The fries could do with out the lettuce and carrots. They are great just the way they were. Everyone else at our table enjoyed what they got to eat.
The Service: Here is the neat thing about this restaurant. They take your name and number and text you when your table is ready. We had a party of 7 and was seated in 40 minutes. Pretty quick for a Saturday night and a large party. I wish I could remembered our waitress's name, but I forgot. They only problem I had with out service, was she would disappear for a long time. We had empty beer glasses and empty water glasses on the table. A good waitress or waiter, does not let you go thirsty. The cool thing was they were able to divide the check up into 3 separate checks.
Overall: I'm ready to go back and try something different on the menu. The atmosphere was so Guy and what Guy is about. I would definitely recommend this to everyone, no doubt

Squire's Italian Restaurant

Who would of thought you could get some really good Italian food, outside of Little Italy? Think again. This East Baltimore landmark has been serving many patrons for 60 years. Did you know Squires started out as a bar?

The Food: Squires has had their recipes passed down from generations. I have had just about everything at Squires from hamburger steak to chicken parmigiana. All the pasta and sauce are made from scratch. Angel hair pasta with the chicken parmigiana is money. the angel hair pasta is a side for your meal, you also have to choose the salad with the house dressing. But before you order your meal, you have to order the calamari. I guarantee Squire's calamari taste like no one Else's. It has to be one of the best in the state. I'm not too big on lasagna, but I will only eat Squires lasagna, we have had this on many private occasions at Squires. Along with the lasagna, is the Italian chicken, spot on. Have you ever noticed, Squires pizza is very similar to Pizza Johns pizza? A former employee left Squire to start Pizza Johns. It is very hard to say who has the best pizza, both are extremely excellent.

The Service: I can never complain ever about the service we receive at Squires. It does not matter if it is a large function we are having or just out to dinner. Never once have we received bad service from anyone. Even upper management has went above and beyond to take care of us.

Overall:  This is by far, one of my families favorite restaurant. Great service and great food. Reasonably priced food, with excellent service. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who is out of town and want really good Italian food. Squires also offers a carryout, delivery and off site catering. http://squirescatering.com/

Red Robin Canton, Md

This gonna be tough since I have decided to eat healthy. It's called Red Robin gourmet burgers and brew. For the folks that have never heard of Red Robin, it is a gourmet burger restaurant

The Food: I have tried numerous burgers in the past, but only found one I really love, blue ribbon. The Blue ribbon is loaded with Blue Cheese and onion straws topped with tangy steak sauce and chipotle aioli. It is by far one of their better burgers.
Red Robin Canton Crossing
The A1 peppercorn burger is alright if you like a peppery flavor. Stacked with onion straws, a slice of pepper jack cheese and a peppercorn spread, gives this burger peppery taste. Another burger I have had in the past is the Whiskey River burger. Red Robin created their signature bourbon- infused Whisky River BBQ sauce. Another burger with onion straws, a slice of cheddar, and a spread of mayonnaise.
During my last two trips to Red Robin, I stepped away from the burger's and tried something different. I tried the Red's Nantucket seafood platter. It was something different, but not bad either. This combo comes with cod fillets, fried shrimp, tender clam strips, Cole slaw, and bottomless fries. I could recommend trying. During my eat healthier challenge, I ordered the Ensenada Chicken platter. Two fire grilled chicken breast with Mexican seasoning's topped with fresh salsa and a creamy salsa ranch sauce. This meal comes with a side salad with a baja ranch dressing. I also ordered a side of steamed broccoli. All meals comes with bottomless steak fries. When I was ordering an appetizer, I would order the O-ring shorty, only because I love the campfire sauce. You have to have the campfire sauce for your fries also.

The Service: Red Robin goes through the time to train their staff, unlike the poor quality waitress's at Hooters Harbor Place. This is the second time we visited this location and have never had a problem.

Overall: Overall this is an excellent restaurant to bring your kids to. Very kid friendly, with your typical coloring activities for the little ones. Parking is a little awkward in the new Canton Crossing, but we never had a problem. Not as big as Red Robin in White Marsh. www.redrobin.com

Pasticcio

The spot formally known as Franco Zeppi's, is a hidden gem throughout the Canton restaurants. Like a good batter, Pasticcio menu hits to all sides of the field. This family kid friendly restaurant, hits a grand slam every time we eat there.

The Food: One thing for sure, you can not go wrong with the pizza. This thin crusty, tangy sauce, fresh mozzarella cheese should be one of the best pie's in Baltimore. This place has become a family favorite for pizza. We actually had my oldest son's second birthday at the Pasticcio in Parkville, Md. Who would not love a pizza party for a 2 year old. When it comes to calamari, my wife and I are very critical. Canton Dockside used to have pretty good calamari, but it has since taken a back seat to Pasticcio. The Pasticcio Italian cold cut, is an excellent choice. Every entree I have had in the past was excellent also. The only thing I was disappointed in, was the french fries. In addition to your common Italian dishes, Pasticcio offers a variety of daily specials.

The Service: Never had any problems with the service at either Pasticcio locations. One evening picking up carryout, I had a conversation with the owner. I told him, how this is our favorite pizza place in the city.

Overall: Large dining area located in the Canton Can Company. Very family and kid friendly. Don't let the other pizza places fool you, Pasticcio has one of the best pie's in the Baltimore metro area. Plenty of parking. You can dine in or outside.

Kabuto Japanese Steakhouse and Sushi Bar

After a very exhausting week, my wife and I was ready to hit a restaurant for our anniversary. The one we were suppose to go too, closed up after about 3 months of operation. So my next suggestion was Kabuto Japanese Steakhouse and Sushi Bar. We have been here with friends before and was pleased. This place is not like any other Japanese steakhouse, the decor alone blows any one's away. The main foyer has a huge Koi pond leading into the restaurant, which I thought was very neat. Beautiful tile and wall decor to give you that old Japan feeling. The lighting is unbelievable, not to dark, but the wall in another dining area changes colors frequently.
Baltimore Roll

The Food: To me all Japanese steakhouse's taste the same. So to me, it is about quantity for the right price. Of course everyone has either been to or heard of Kobe Japanese steak and seafood. Kobe charges more for less. At Kabuto, they give you more for a much lesser price. The sushi prices are very reasonable. The first time at Kabuto, I had the spicy tuna, one of my favorite sushi's. On my visit this past Saturday, I had the sushi sampler. It is the chef's sushi of the day. It was not bad at all. When it comes to the hibachi, I always get the same, chicken and shrimp, or steak and shrimp. The hibachi chef always put on a great show for you to eat. Excellent low mein noodles and fried rice. The hibachi vegetables goes great with the yum yum sauce. If you have never had yum yum sauce you are missing out and it is a must. I'm gonna be totally honest, Kabuto's is well worth it.

The Service: I have read many written reviews on many other site's such as Yelp and 5 out of 10 people complained about the service. I have been to Kabuto's twice and have never once had bad service. We never went without an empty drink and as soon as I ordered my sushi, it came right out 5 minutes later. Very quick and efficient.

Overall: I hope this restaurant succeeds in this area. I have seen many restaurants come and go in the Golden Ring area, one being a Japanese Steakhouse, which went out of business. The decor alone is breath taking, very clean, friendly staff, and really good food. I'm not big on giving ratings, but this place would get a 5 star rating. If you are in the area and you want some great food, stop in this place. I would definitely recommend this place over Kobe and Sakura's.

Pizza Tugo

Someone made a great point about Ocean City, there are too many pizza place's. Which is a great point, I mean who wants to drive 3 hours to eat pizza? I'm sure the majority of you have ate at some of Baltimore's best pizza restaurants. Pizza in Ocean City is good for after 2am, after the bar closes, for lunch, or a late dinner when everything is packed. Which brings me to my next restaurant, Pizza Tugos. This is some of the best pizza I have had in Ocean City. Pizza Tugos is Ocean City's original pizza delivery since 1983. With 3 locations, uptown, downtown, and West Ocean City. West Ocean City location offers the Taphouse, which has a large selection of craft beers from local breweries.

Pizza Tugos W. Ocean City
The Food: We never had anything other then the wings and pizza. The pizza was excellent and some of the best I have had in Ocean City. Yeah you see the Dough Roller's up and down Coastal Highway, but nothing compared to Pizza Tugos. You create your own pizza with 22 different toppings, or you can order one of their craft pizza's off the menu. Pizza Tugos offers calzones and breadstix's. They also offer you typical appetizers, subs, pasta, salads a kids menu, and wings. Most pizza place's that offer wings are small. Not Pizza Tugos, these wings were biggest, fattest, and juiciest wings you can find. You will be pleasantly surprised. These wings are Ocean City's best kept secret. They offer, hot, mild, Old Bay, Extra hot, BBQ, Chipolte hot, garlic Parmesan, sweet Thai chili, and sweet teriyaki.

The Service: We ordered our food for delivery this year. They offer 30 minute free delivery. Last year we ate in and was happy with the service.

Overall: One of Ocean City's hidden gems when it comes to food. You will be surprised how good the pizza is and how fat the wings are. Ocean City Maryland's only Coke freestyle machine.Over 150 flavors. When you visit Ocean City, make sure you grab all the coupons and travel guides for the Pizza Tugos specials. www.pizzatugos.com

Nicks Original House of Ribs

Want to catch a break from seafood? Nicks Original House of Ribs could be your place. Nicks is famous for their baby back ribs, juicy Black Angus steak, burgers, prime rib, barbeque shrimp and famous Onion loaf.

Nicks Original House of Ribs
The Food: If you want a change of pace from seafood, Nicks could be your answer. Lets not beat around the bush, you must have the crab cheese toast and the Nick famous onion loaf ( bloomin onion ). Both are served with horseradish sauce. I will repeat, both are a must for an appetizer. Ribs are suppose to fall off the bone without a knife. Well you can cut their ribs with a knife. Don't get me wrong, great taste, just not cooked right. The boneless piece of barbeque chicken I had was a bit dry. My wife had the London broiled, well she said it was her once and only time she would have that. All of your entrees come with two sides.

The Service: The service at Nicks is not jaw dropping, but it is not bad either. I never had a empty glass of ice tea and our food came out accurate.

Overall: Nicks is located in North Ocean City at the Delaware/ Maryland line on 145th St. It would be hard to judge if they have the best ribs in OC, since OC is not a known for ribs. I will say they are not the best ribs I have had, but not the worst either. As I have stated above, the crab toast is a must when visiting Nicks. If I would have to rate this restaurant on 5 stars, I would give it 3. www.nickshosueofribs.com
